rio de janeiro – A week ago, Europe banned silicone implants made by Silimed Industria de Implantes Ltda after German authorities found that the surfaces of which the implants are made to be contaminated with particles. Today, Brazil is following a similar course of action by banning production and sale of the product in it’s own country.
Brazil is calling the action precautionary until further investigations can be assessed. There are test being performed on the product to see if any contamination breached. Silimed says it is now working with both European and Brazilian regulators to resolve the matter. Silimed is the largest implant producer in South America.(source)
